In just over a decade in Marble Falls, Dr. Greg and Dr. Mendy Ritchie have had a profound impact on the community. From their purchase of Dr. Paul Pearce’s dental practice in 2001, to multiple community service projects and activities, to the expansion of their practice and the collection of numerous awards and accolades, the Ritchies’ hard work and leadership have made Marble Falls a better place.
Originally from Brady, Texas, Mendy graduated early from Texas Tech, and Greg earned his BS in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M. They were gross anatomy partners at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School at San Antonio; both graduated cum laude in 2000. The Ritchies lived in the Canyon Lake area for a year while Greg commuted to his post-graduate residency program at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio and Mendy commuted to Marble Falls to work as an associate dentist under Dr. Pearce. They were finally able to move to Marble Falls in 2001 when they purchased the practice from Dr. Pearce and his wife. Mendy credits the Pearces for helping the young graduates find their way in the business world and the community.
The Ritchies have supported numerous community events and programs, including the Rotary Dental Suites at First Baptist Church, which provides dental care to low-income adults. In addition, they’ve won awards ranging from Greg’s Texas Monthly “Super Dentist” recognition to First Place at the annual Moonlight Madness celebration. From a local leadership perspective, Mendy is the upcoming president of the Marble Falls Noon Rotary Club, and Greg serves on the Marble Falls Chamber Advisory Board and coaches the girls’ basketball team at First Baptist Christian School.
When asked about their favorite aspects of Marble Falls, they responded with variations on the same theme. Mendy loves the “pay-it-forward” mentality in town and the way that the small-town businesses support each other and the community as a whole. Greg feels blessed to own his own business and help people at the same time, and his vision for the future is that Marble Falls continues to be an example of giving and support to others as it grows.
